How to use

When using the candle for the first time, leave it to burn for two or three hours. Every time you light the candle, let the candle burn until the top of the wax has completely melted, this allows the candle to burn evenly and prevent tunneling. Regularly cut the wick (ideal length 5 mm) to make sure you get the most out of your scented candle and be sure to centre the wick in the wax after each use for consistent consumption of the wax.

The wax of our scented candles has a strong scent. Once blown out, the melted wax keeps its scent for a long time. To maintain the quality of the scent, there is no need to burn the candle for more than three hours. If the temperature gets too high due to burning the candle for too long, it may affect the quality of the scent.

We recommend not placing the scented candle near an open window or door to prevent the flame from flapping or smoking due to the draft. This results in black prints that can be seen on the edges.

Please be advised not to burn the candle all the way to the bottom to prevent too much heat development.

This high-quality candle contains a blend of vegan waxes, including rapeseed, coconut and soy wax. It does not contain paraffin. It will burn for approximately 30 or 70 hours.

We have deliberately opted for a design that promotes the reuse of our candle holders. When the candle is empty, these versatile holders can be repurposed in various ways, such as transforming them into flower pots, pen holders, or makeup brush organizers. This approach not only reduces waste but also encourages creativity and provides long-lasting functionality for our candle holders.

Are scented candles bad for you? 

Scented candles are safe to use when burned correctly in a well-ventilated space. To minimise risks, choose high-quality candles made from natural waxes and natural fragrant oils. Always ensure proper ventilation and avoid prolonged exposure in enclosed spaces.   SOPHIA MAE’s scented candles are made from a blend of vegan wax, including rapeseed, coconut, and soy, and contain no paraffin.

Sustainability

Can I reuse the candle glass? 

Yes, our candle holders are designed to be reused. Once the candle has burned down, simply remove any remaining wax and clean the glass. The holder can then be given a second life in many ways, such as a flower pot, pen holder, or makeup brush holder.

Scented candles generally have a long lifespan and no specific expiration date, though their quality may change over time. Factors such as fragrance intensity and storage conditions can affect their longevity. After a year, the scent may gradually fade, but the candle will still be safe and burn effectively.

To preserve the quality of the fragrance, we recommend burning the candle for no more than three hours at a time. If the temperature inside the glass becomes too high, it can affect the fragrance composition.

How long does a scented candle typically last? 

The burn time of a scented candle depends on factors such as size, wax type, wick, and how the candle is used. In general, the larger the candle, the longer the burn time. Our midi scented candles burn for up to 30 hours and the maxi scented candles for up to 70 hours. For the best results, we recommend placing the candle in a draft-free spot, keeping the wick trimmed to about 5 mm, and avoiding burning it for more than three hours at a time.
