FROM CONCEPT TO CREATION: ARTEMIS

In this journal post, the founder of SOPHIA MAE, Monica Geuze, and Product Development Manager Manon Willemsen tell you all about the refreshing and energetic scent of Artemis. Discover the inspiration, fragrance notes and development process of one of SOPHIA MAE's first fragrances.

HOW DID THE IDEA FOR THE ARTEMIS FRAGRANCE COME ABOUT?

The idea for Artemis arose during the development of our very first fragrances. We already loved the scent of orange blossom, a scent that also appears in some of our other products. We therefore unanimously agreed that Artemis should contain the scent of orange blossom, which automatically ensures that Artemis has become a very fresh, energetic scent. In the Netherlands, orange blossom is not widely used, which immediately gives Artemis a unique scent.

CAN YOU TELL US MORE ABOUT THE FRAGRANCE NOTES?

The fragrance notes of Artemis consist of orange blossom, bergamot, musk and basil. We chose this composition because we wanted the scent to have a fresh, spicy and energetic feel. Orange blossom and bergamot give the scent that citrusy freshness, while musk and basil add a deeper, sharper touch. The result is a scent that fits perfectly with the green, fresh appearance of Artemis.

IN WHICH PRODUCTS IS THE ARTEMIS FRAGRANCE AVAILABLE?

Artemis is available in various products, including scented candles, roomspray and fragrance sticks. We made this choice because Artemis, like Aphrodite, is one of our classic scents. We wanted to offer people the opportunity to enjoy Artemis in different forms, so they can bring their favorite scent into their home in the way that suits them best.

IN WHICH ROOM DOES ARTEMIS FIT BEST?

Artemis works best in rooms such as the bathroom or toilet. The scent of Artemis also works well in the kitchen, so that you can enjoy a fresh scent in your home even after cooking. 

WHAT IS THE STORY BEHIND THE NAME OF THE ARTEMIS COLLECTION?

The name Artemis is inspired by the goddess of the same name from Greek mythology. Artemis is associated with nature and is often depicted as a goddess living in the forest. We thought this association with nature and the outdoors fit perfectly with the fresh and energetic scent of Artemis.

WHAT FEELING DOES ARTEMIS CONVEY? 

Artemis conveys a feeling of freshness and energy. It's like bringing a spring breeze into your home, or being on holiday on the coast of Italy where orange blossom trees grow. This scent gives you that wonderful feeling of a fresh start, as if you have just cleaned your house and everything is clean and tidy. Finally, filling the room with the scent of Artemis provides the perfect finishing touch. It really is a scent that uplifts and energizes you.
