FROM CONCEPT TO CREATION: HESTIA SCENTED CANDLE

Where did you find inspiration for the Hestia scented candle?

Inspiration comes from our everyday lives. It can be as simple as finding a particular fruit or flower scent delightful and wanting to incorporate it into a fragrance. However, it can also stem from moments or memories we wish to capture in a scent—a fragrance that evokes the same feeling. This was the case with Hestia.

How did the idea for Hestia scented candle come about?

With Hestia, we aimed to capture the essence of the beginning of autumn. It's a familiar moment for everyone: leaves falling from the trees, cozy sweaters being pulled out of the closet, and the fireplace crackling. It's the time when you want to be indoors, light candles, and curl up on the couch with a warm mug of hot chocolate. The candle contains different types of wood, including sandalwood and cedarwood, which evoke the warmth of a fireplace. The base notes of Cashmeran resemble the softness of a cashmere wool blanket. To add that extra touch, we included sweet notes, reminiscent of the feeling of curling up next to the fireplace while holding a cup of warm coco.

What emotions or feelings should Hestia scented candle evoke?

The intention behind Hestia is to evoke the feeling of snuggling under a blanket on the couch, and feeling warm and cozy. Hestia provides the ever-familiar sense of coming home.

Why is the scent named Hestia?

In Greek mythology, Hestia is the Goddess of the hearth, home and family. She embodies peace and never partakes in wars. The name speaks for itself in terms of the essence we wanted to capture.

Can you provide more insights into the production process of Hestia scented candle?

All of our scented candles are 100% vegan. This means the wax is made from soy, coconut, and/or rapeseed wax. Creating the right vegan wax is more complex than using paraffin wax, so it undergoes a months-long testing procedure until the perfect composition is achieved. The same dedication goes into selecting the fragrance, which also requires significant time and attention. We maintain close contact with our perfumer in Grasse, France, who develops the scent based on our wishes. The evaluation and testing process from our end comes next, which sometimes involves up to five rounds of samples before we find the perfect fragrance.

What makes the scent Hestia unique?

What sets Hestia apart is that we aimed to capture a specific moment in a candle. It evokes a feeling that almost everyone can relate to.

When did you know that the scent Hestia was complete?

Every time we create a fragrance and all think: ‘Yes, this is it’, is the moment we know we have to stop tweaking the scent. When it gives us that feeling we were searching for, all the puzzle pieces just fall into place and just like that, a new fragrance is born.
