FROM CONCEPT TO CREATION: THE MAKING OF EOS LAUNDRY PERFUME

How do you go about developing new fragrances?

It starts with a product or scent in mind. We consider what kind of experience we want to create. For example, with a shower gel, we might want a fresh, soft scent. Based on that, we brainstorm different fragrance ideas. For instance, we might think of a forest walk in autumn, with the scents of a fireplace and coziness. We then try to capture that scent in a candle, roomspray or laundry perfume.

How do new ideas come about?

We are always looking for unique scents that don't exist yet. We want to create fragrances that we’ve never smelled before and do that by developing the scents entirely b yourselves. We often tweak the scent samples until we find something that is truly unique.

Where did you find inspiration for Eos laundry perfume?

For Eos, we wanted a scent that felt clean and fresh, like laundry hanging on a clothesline in a refreshing spring breeze. We all had memories of that familiar scent, so we wanted to capture that in a bottle. We started with the idea of a laundry scent and brainstormed what that might smell like and what scent associations we had.

How did the idea for Eos laundry perfume come about?

Eos laundry perfume had to smell clean, fresh, and evoke the feeling of hanging laundry in the breeze on a sunny day. We aimed for a scent that would remind people of a clean, fresh scent in the spring and summer. The heart notes of the fragrance are floral, but we didn't want to describe it as "flowery" to avoid any misconceptions about the scent.While the flowery notes add a subtle touch of warmth and sweetness, we wanted it to feel fresh and clean. The base notes are cashmere and sandalwood, which creates a sense of comfort and familiarity, like freshly washed cotton.

What emotions or feelings should Eos laundry perfume evoke?

Eos laundry perfume should evoke feelings of safety, cleanliness, freshness and comfort. I think we really managed to capture that in a bottle, which is something we are extremely proud of.

Why did you name the scent Eos?

Eos is the Greek goddess of the dawn, which we thought was a fitting name for a scent that evokes the freshness of a new day. We wanted to capture the feeling of a morning sunrise, a dewy lawn, and fresh laundry hanging in the breeze.

What makes Eos laundry perfume unique?

The concept of a laundry perfume in itself is quite unique. While people often use fabric softeners, not many are familiar with the idea of a laundry perfume, which is a luxurious add-on to your laundry routine. Eos laundry perfume is a fresh scent that people may not be familiar with, but they will recognize it when they smell it. It's the kind of scent that you didn't know you needed until you have it, and then you can't imagine ever going without it.

When did you know that Eos laundry perfume was complete?

We sometimes do tweak fragrances endlessly, but we know when we've found the right scent when we all feel excited about it. There's always a moment when we all feel that we've created something unique and special, that’s when we know a scent is complete. We also try to get feedback from others, to ensure that we're on the right track.
