FROM CONCEPT TO CREATION: MOODY MUG, MUSING MUGS & COURAGE CUP

In this journal post, Monica Geuze, the founder of SOPHIA MAE, and Manon Willemsen, the Product Development Manager, guide you through the journey from the first concept to the creation of the launch that the entire SOPHIA MAE team has been eagerly awaiting: the Moody Mug, Musing Mugs and the Courage Cup.

How did SOPHIA MAE come up with the idea for the Musing Mugs?

At SOPHIA MAE, self-care is one of the most important things, and a self-care moment should also include a beautiful mug for your coffee, tea or other favorite drink. The idea behind the Musing Mugs is that when you really want to take a moment for yourself, there is nothing better than treating yourself to a hot drink in a beautifully designed mug. In addition, the inspiring words on the mugs serve as a reminder to take a well-deserved moment for yourself every now and then.

And the Moody Mug?

Because not every day can be a good day, SOPHIA MAE has also designed the Moody Mug. The idea behind this is to embrace the days when you feel a little less, as it's completely okay not to be okay sometimes. After all, these days are just as important, so why not celebrate them with a beautiful mug in your hands?

What about the Courage Cup? 

The idea for the Courage Cup came from the need for a stylish to-go cup that was not easy to find. That's why we decided to create one ourselves. In addition to the practical aspect of keeping drinks warm for longer, or cool drinks cold, the Courage Cup also adds a nice touch to your outfit. The versatility of the cup is emphasized by the minimalist design that goes with everything. 

Why did SOPHIA MAE choose this color?

The choice of this color is based on its versatility. The beige mugs and cup match any style and outfit, making them perfect for everyday use. In addition, it is in line with the SOPHIA MAE color that you see everywhere, which makes it extra special for us.

What can you use the Mugs & Courage Cup for?

The Moody & Musing Mugs and Courage Cup are suitable for both hot and cold drinks, making them perfect for any time of the year. 

Can you tell us more about the production process of the products?

For the Musing Mugs and the Moody Mug, it was challenging to create a beautiful model without a handle attached, which is something we wanted. After several sampling rounds, we chose the current design. A fun fact is that the SOPHIA MAE team used these mugs for months to thoroughly test them before launching. In addition, the luxurious boxes for these products also have a unique print, adding to the joy of receiving them.

As for the Courage Cup, we went through many sampling rounds to find the perfect color, and we finally succeeded! The packaging shows a beautiful 'cup' from many years ago, creating a nice connection with the past.

What drink will you pour into the mugs or to-go cup?

Manon Willemsen: "Without a doubt, I would choose chamomile tea with honey. With the mugs or the to-go cup, I would appreciate my favorite drink even more."

Monica Geuze: "I think I will mainly use the Courage Cup. When I'm on the go, I'll take the to-go cup with me so I can enjoy my daily Iced Coconut Matcha Latte."
