The creation of the Eternal Balm SOPHIA MAE l SOPHIA MAE bestsellers

FROM CONCEPT TO CREATION: ETERNAL BALM

In this blog post, the founder of SOPHIA MAE, Monica Geuze, and Product Development Manager Manon Willemsen take you on a journey from the initial concept to the creation of our bestselling Eternal Balm and the Eternal Balm mini. Here, they delve into the inspiration behind the Eternal Balm, the choice of fragrance notes and what makes the product unique.

How did the idea for the Eternal Balm come about?

The idea for the Eternal Balm stemmed from our own experiences. We often used lip products but were rarely completely satisfied. Sometimes they didn't look good, sometimes they didn't perform as we wanted, or sometimes they had an unpleasant smell. One day, we thought: what if we create our own lip product? How would we want it to look, feel, and smell? That was the beginning of the Eternal Balm as we know it today.

How was the scent determined, and can you provide more insights into the scent notes?

The scent of the Eternal Balm was a significant focus for us because we wanted it to be not only effective but also delightful to smell. We didn’t want it to be too overpowering, so we chose the soft fragrance notes of rose and vanilla. It smells so good that you're almost tempted to lick your lips after applying.

Can you tell us more about the production process of the Eternal Balm?

After the idea for the Eternal Balm was born, we collaborated with a Dutch production company to bring our vision to life. The samples were almost perfect right away, and the Eternal Balm became a bestseller from the very beginning. Over time, we often received requests for a smaller size to carry in your bag, which is why the Eternal Balm mini was created.

What is the story behind the name of the Eternal Balm?

Initially, we wanted to use the word "cream," but it gave the wrong impression, namely that it could be applied to the face like a day cream, which is not the case. That's why we opted for the word "balm." The term "eternal" refers to something that lasts a long time and evokes a heavenly feeling of endless nourishment. The fact is that the Eternal Balm stays on for a long time after application, hence the word “eternal”. The Eternal Balm is truly an indispensable essential: once you've experienced the Eternal Balm, you'll never want anything else.

What makes the Eternal Balm unique?

What truly sets the Eternal Balm apart is that it's a nurturing product specifically created for your lips. It doesn't come in a standard package but is a luxurious accessory for your bag, bathroom, or other places in your home. The combination of its silky texture and enchanting scent makes it a genuinely unique product.

What can the Eternal Balm be used for?

While the Eternal Balm is primarily intended for your lips, you can also use it on other dry areas that need some extra hydration, such as your cuticles. You can also apply a small amount of the Eternal Balm to your cheeks to use it as a subtle highlighter.

How did the idea for the Eternal Balm mini come about?

After receiving many requests from our customers for a smaller size that's easy to carry in your bag, we decided to develop the Eternal Balm mini. We greatly value customer feedback and strive to listen to our customers and act on their requests.
